Dubai Chocolate Strawberry Cups in London: What They Are & Where to Get One

· 3 min read

Dubai-style chocolate strawberry cup with crispy kunafa from Miktreatz in London

First there was the Dubai chocolate bar. Then came the Dubai chocolate strawberry cup: a tub of fresh strawberries buried under glossy chocolate and crunchy kunafa that's been all over London's TikTok and Instagram feeds.

If you've been wondering what all the fuss is about (and where to get one without a three-hour queue), here's everything you need to know.

First, what is Dubai chocolate?

"Dubai chocolate" is the nickname for a thick, filled chocolate bar created by a chocolatier in Dubai. Inside the chocolate shell is a filling of pistachio cream and toasted kataifi (the shredded pastry used to make kunafa). Videos of people snapping the bar in half, showing that crunchy green filling, went viral worldwide. Suddenly everyone wanted to taste it.

The flavour combination of chocolate, pistachio and crunchy kunafa quickly moved beyond the bar. Dessert bars began putting it into cakes, waffles, shakes and, most famously, strawberry cups.

What is a Dubai chocolate strawberry cup?

It's exactly as indulgent as it sounds:

  1. A base of fresh strawberries, sliced or whole
  2. Melted chocolate poured over the top, usually milk chocolate
  3. Crispy kunafa, toasted until golden and crunchy
  4. Often a drizzle of pistachio cream to finish

The magic is in the contrast: cold, juicy fruit; warm, silky chocolate; and that crunchy kataifi texture. It's a dessert you hear as much as taste.

Why did it go viral?

  • It's made for video. The pour, the crunch and the spoonful pull are all very shareable.
  • It's lighter than it looks. Fresh fruit balances the richness, so it doesn't feel as heavy as a slab of cake.
  • It's new but familiar. Strawberries and chocolate are a classic; kunafa adds the novelty.

Milk Chocolate Strawberry Cup (£9.95)

For the purists: rich milk chocolate and sweet strawberry. Simple, indulgent and very hard to share.

Pro tip: go halves on one of each with a friend, so you get the classic and the crunch.

Both are part of our Signature Kunafa Confections. If you love the Dubai flavour profile, try the Kunafa Dubai Waffle next (£9.95) — a crispy waffle infused with the sweetness of kunafa.
